The world of Barsoom is to put it simply rational, there aren't any evil races or Tolkien orcs, for example, there are of course some culture shock compared to our views on Earth but nothing that makes a group inherently evil. I mean, it's a world where you can have an alien dog as a pet or more dangerous beasts, fight giant apes, go on flying ships and make alliances without letting culture, and other factors stop you from doing so.
